Question:
Can you please explain why the “Halal food authority” that stun animals before slaughtering are haraam? As I got asked this question and wasn’t sure of what to say apart from stunning makes it makruh.
Answer:
The Ulama‘ agreed that the meat of the animal is permissible to eat if the animal is still alive after being stunned and then slaughtered properly. Qur’an clarifies: “unless you are able to slaughter it (before its death)” Al-Ma’idah 5:3)
