Picture of prophet Muhammad (pbuh)

Question:

As salamu aleykum,

I apologize in advance to burden you with this question. In Naqshbandi circles and some parts of Morocco a photo of Prophet (s) is circulated which is supposed to be a picture sketch by Bahira the monk, when Prophet (s) was a boy.

Is this picture authentic?

If we are to obtain such a picture are we allowed to display it in our homes along with the pictures of Shaykh or should we refrain?

Are we allowed to keep it out of personal love for the Habib just for our own selves?
Again, I am sorry for this question but the community here is conservative Muslim and very sensitive to such displays of affection to the Prophet pbuh and some of the mureeds are displaying this picture in their homes, which is drawing criticism and interrogation.

Thank your response.

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,

As stated in the Forty Hadiths collected by Imam al-Nawawi: “Leave what causes you doubt and stick to what does not cause you any doubt.”
