Question:
Asalamu aleikum wr wb,
I am Muslim since 5 years and have two brothers with whom I share the same father. Their mother has two other children from a different man, one of them is a boy. I have known them since I was 15 and see them all as my brothers and sister. Now they are all grown and somebody pointed out to me that the brother with whom I don’t share any parents is not my mahram and I should not kiss him anymore (or be with him alone in the house etc.), Since he’s known me all his life, I don’t want to hurt his feelings. He is not Muslim. I would like some advice about what is the best and proper way to handle this according to Shari’at. Thank you for your answer. May Allah bless you here and in akhira, wassalam,
Answer:
`Alaykum Salam,
This is correct since you and that boy are marriageable to one another according to Shari`a, so you should just take your distance as unabruptly as possible, and at the right time you can just explain it to him in a kind and forthright manner as you just did.
