Question:
There is a saying in the south Asian culture that you should not be engaged in prayer at 12am/12pm.
Please can you clarify?
Answer:
Such a prohibition is baseless in the Sunna (there were no precise hourly measures in use), the Shari`a and the practice of the Umma except for the prohibition of prayer at the true noontime, i.e. when the sun is at its zenith. Until then you can still pray, e.g. the Duha prayer.
As for praying at 12am it is not only allowed but praiseworthy.
