Question:
My question is regarding the chronic passing of very small amounts of gas – making it difficult to keep wudu during salah, or reciting Quran.
Answer:
In the sacred law the flatulence that breaks wudu‘ is whatever causes a smell or a sound. If neither is present then ignore. If one of the two is present then wudu’ is broken and must be renewed. If the issue is chronic then it is considered incontinence, in which case just one wudu‘ for each fard salat is required, and that particular salat remains valid regardless, or one wudu‘ for each period of reading Qur’an and that period is pure regardless.
