Wudu and use of kohl

Question:

Audhu billahi mina shaytan ir Rajeem Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim,

Alhamdulillahi Rabbil alamiin wa salatu wa salaamu ala ashrafil anbiya’i wal mursalin Sayidina Muhammad wa ‘ala ahlihi wa sahbihi ajma’iin

Asalaamwale kum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu dear beloved Mawlana Shaykh,

May the Blessings of Allah (SWT) be with you, Hajjah Naziha, Shaykh Gibril and all the family of our beloved Sultan, the mureeds, Ameen.

This is just a quick question insha’Allah.

I and my husband have worn kohl for eye ailments and for the Sunnah of our Beloved Prophet (SAW). And i have also wore it as make-up

It is the kohl from Lefke or similar.

Does one need to remove it completely when doing wudu?

Insha’Allah please remember us in your prayers and forgive our shortcomings.

Answer:

Assalamu`alaikum
Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmani ‘r-Raheem

If the Kohl is the natural powdered form (known as `Ithmid), you need not remove it before making Wudu.

If you use the modern solid stick type or any that is waterproof, you will need to remove it first, similarly with other make-up.
