Sending sawab

Question:

Assalamualaikum,

If a person sends sawab (reward) of his prayer to a living shaykh, who nevertheless may not be the shaykh of the person who is sending the sawab, does the shaykh come to know about it?

When we send sawab to the wali-Allahs who are not in this world, we send the sawab on to the “ruh“. If this is correct, what is the proper way of asking Allah to bestow a living shaykh with the reward? [For example, can I say: O Allah please send the sawab of my ibadah to Mawlana Shaykh Hisham al-Kabbani].

Similarly we send sawab to all Ummat. Does it mean that the sawab of my ibadah goes to all living and deceased members of the Ummah? Does, then, every Muslim  becomes benefited with the sawab that so many people send to all members of the Ummah?

Was salam.

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,

Yes the thawab is constantly benefitting the Umma at all times and it also benefits the senders. The beneficiaries know about it in Barzakh and also in dunya if they are Awliya, but the sender will not necessarily be made aware that they know.
