Question:
Salaam Sheikh, I think I find really hard to keep fast as I have really low blood pressure. I can get migraines and ill. This is controlled by food and exercise. Last year I didn’t work at all and I kept them Alhumdulillah but I’m worried this year.
Answer:
One who fears that fasting may make his sickness worse or damage a part of his body or slow down his recovery, has the option not to fast. It is makrooh (offensive) for such person to fast as it may lead to his death. He is in the category of: “And as for those who can fast with difficulty, they have to feed a poor person (for every day).” Al-Baqarah 2:184
