Question:
Assalamu Alikum,
One of my co-employees requested me to ask Shk. Hisham about making up her fasting for Ramadan for 10 years. She is from a South Asian country and she stated that she started her period at the age of 9 years old. She states that her parents did not teach her Islamic principles and thus she wants to make up her fasting, which she feels she missed during Ramadan for 10 years or so. She does not remember how many fasting days she missed, nor does she remember making them up. She is a practicing Muslima now and she feels that she should make up all of her fasting days that she missed over 10 years, what should she do and how should she make them up now.
Salaams
Answer:
Wa `alaykum salam,
Make intention to fast Mondays and Thursday’s until they are finished.
