Question:
Please Clarify: (Hanafi view).
It is obligatory to wash the outer part of a thick beard, within the limits of the face?
The face is defined as being from the top of the forehead to the bottom of the chin, and from earlobe to earlobe.
Please explain obligatory limit of face with reference to under chin area. Does bottom of chin include bone area of chin only or does it also include beyond that, say, including throat?I refer throat as area where soft muscles begins just after end of chin bone or bottom of chin.
What do you mean by beard beyond/outside the limit of face?
Does it mean hair hanging from the periphery of face ? Does it also mean the part of beard beyond bottom of bone of chin as usually beard grows on throat also?
Answer:
The area of the face below the chin i.e. the area that is under the lower teeth is required to be washed.
