What is the procedure of zakat?
Answer:
Zakat is an obligatory duty to Allah on every Muslim and Muslimah possessing wealth equal to or exceeding a prescribed amount ($2,855.00) called “Nisab”. It is a prescribed welfare contribution (minimum 2.5%) from one’s surplus wealth. It is considered the right of the poor on the wealth of the rich in a given Muslim community.
