Slaughter a rooster (not hen) outside the house and let both husband and wife step over it with ta`awwudh and basmalah; repeat with two more roosters at two different corners outside house. Give away the meat and do not eat from it.

The “Third Eye”

Question:

Assalamualaikum, honored shaykhs and eShaykh staff.

I have a question on what is called the “third eye”. I am a new “practitioner” of the Naqshbandi order’s practices (awrad), but have been a lifelong Muslim. Alhamdulillah. I say “practitioner” because I have not taken the baya as I have not yet received my parents’ permission. Insyallah sometime soon.

At the end of daily awrad or after making dua after fard prayers, I started to recite “Allah Hu, Allah Hu, Allah Hu Haqq” and contemplating on it for a few seconds following the Naqshbandi example. For the past week, I feel a strange but soothing feeling on my forehead near where the eyes meet. And this has remained almost constant every time I do this.

In other religions and beliefs, this is called the “(opening) third eye”. What is the Islamic view on this, oh learned shaykhs?

Jazakallahu khairan.

Answer:

`Alaykum Salam,

Parental permission is needed for worldly decisions such as marriage, moving away, and the like but not for Remembrance of Allah dhikr and salawat or taking spiritual advice of a master other than in the way of courtesy. Best for you is to take bayaa and if you wish delay informing them until you are comfortable with it that is OK.

As for third eye it is indeed described as a kind of opening of spiritual insight, however in comparison to the eyes of the heart which our master opens for us when we are ready, the third eye is still a worldly gift, not a heavenly one. It is like learning the alphabet on the one hand and composing Iliad and Odyssey, there is no comparison.

Dream: Mouth Issues

Dream:

I’ve had some dreams about some sticky gum like substance in my mouth I try to pull it out and it’s never ending, sometimes it’s food and my mouth feels full and I can’t swallow it. Recently I see some friends at my sister’s house I taste some pink ice cream which is awful, I go to the kitchen and vomit in the corner. I see it’s water on the floor, but I can see it’s some thick stuff I’m forcing out of my mouth. One of my sister’s friend takes me near sink I still have some thing in my mouth but I swallow a bit and try to wash out my mouth.

Interpretation:

Stay away from dubious conversations that might have backbiting in them, and observe your daily dhikr and salawat.

Prayer Request: Everything going wrong

Request:

Dear Blessed Shaykhs,

As I am writing this I am in the middle of a lot of worry. Things are going haywire in my business out of the blue. A group of my team have tried to undermine my company and left collectively. Similarly stuff got stolen. My bank called today and have blocked my card. One of my clients won’t clear his payments. My husband as usual is always fighting. I have this horrible feeling in my heart. I recently saw a huge snake in my kitchen in my dreams which I killed. I have been wearing the taweez e Daghestani as you instructed and recite the dua Ayat ul Kursi (not every day) but don’t know what to do. I need your prayers desperately like an orphan needs a parent. Please help, tell me what to do as I am very sad.

Response:

Continue with your devotions and feel no fear, but take each step in the light of the Divine promise of help with each difficulty, cleansing, and drawing closer to Allah at great speed; just ask for wisdom and patience, the patience of believing men and women who carry mountains for His sake and He rewards them with greater yet.

Contracts for Difference and CFDs Trading

Question:

assalamu alaikum,
I would like to know if the following type of share trading is halal?
Contracts for difference is trading shares without having to physically own them. Contracts for difference (aka CFDs) mirror the performance of a share or an index. A CFD is in essence an agreement between the buyer and seller to exchange the difference in the current value of a share, currency, commodity or index and its value at the end of the contract. If the difference is positive, the seller pays the buyer. If it is negative, the buyer is the one who loses money.

For more on cfd click here.

I would really appreciate an answer thanks in advance.

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,
According to ulama specialized in this matter such as Mufti Taqi Uthmani, CDF contracts contain elements of interest and gambling and as such are ruled as haram.

Sayyidina Khidr [as] ?

Question:

As Salaamu Alaykum wr wb,
Ya Sayyidi, Beloved Hajjah and eShaykh Staff!

Some years ago, when i was going to work in downtown San Francisco, as I was walking to work, I encountered a homeless person, sitting on a white cloth spread in front of him, on the side walk. There were some coins on the cloth. He looked very clean, in white pants and shirt. He was looking at me, and i gave him a one dollar note. He smiled and took it from me, and then later came behind me and asked me if I really wanted to give this to him, for which i nodded in the affirmative. The thought came to me, could this be Sayyidina Khidr[as] Mawlana Shaykh Hisham(q), had told us, just before he went on seclusion, that sometimes we may encounter Sayyidina Khidr[as], perhaps like a homeless person.
InshaAllah!

Answer:

`Alaykum Salam,
It is possible. Sayyidina Khidr helps people with their iman.
