Bayah – Repeated

I alhamdulillah took bayah with Shaykh Hisham a few years ago. I’ve since attended an event where Shaykh Mehmet was present and I did so again, thinking of it as an additional blessing and not fully understanding my actions sadly. Was this okay to do?

Answer:

Yes Light upon light. All bayahs go back to Shaykh Nazim and the Naqshbandi Golden chain.

seeing Mahdi (as)

Dream:

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakathu,

Last year I saw a dream where in a classroom I saw sayyidina imam Mahdi standing near the blackboard like a teacher…I was sitting on floor. He then came towards me and took his right hand forward to which I got up.He then bring me in front of whole classmates and he reads the names which are there in the register. Suddenly he reads my name. I got excited and told the imam that’s my name but he stared at me in strict manner. Finally he says “Those people whose names are not in the list can leave”,and dream ends. What does it mean when you see sayyidina imam Mahdi in dream? Is it good or bad? This is my question.

Interpretation:

wa alaykum salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakutuh,

This is a great blessed dream. It means due to your strong faith, you have been accepted as one of Mahdi’s (as) supporters, Allah knows best.

Miscarriage before 120 days

Question:

Salams,

I wanted to ask what happens to the fetus if miscarriage happens before 120 days ( which is when the soul is breathe into the fetus).Does this baby go to Jannah? Will this baby ask for its parents on the day of judgement? JZK

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,

See “Miscarriage – Loss of a child”  at Living Islam.

Here are some excerpts:

In the Musnad of `Abd ibn Humayd from Mu`adh, the Prophet said, upon him peace: “No two Muslims lost three children except Allah will cause the two parents to enter Paradise through the favor of His mercy toward them.” They said, “What about two, Messenger of Allah?” He said, “Two also.” They said, “And one?” He said, “[Even] the miscarried child will certainly drag its mother [and father, see below] with its umbilical cord to Paradise!”

The Prophet MHMD said, upon him peace, “The miscarried child will pester its glorious and mighty Lord for His entering its two parents into the Fire until it is told, ‘O miscarried child that pesters its Lord! Enter your father and mother into Paradise.’ Then it will drag them with its umbilical cord until it makes them enter Paradise.” Ibn Majah and Abu Ya`la from `Ali.

And again, “By the One in Whose hand is my soul, truly the miscarried child will certainly drag its mother with its umbilical cord to Paradise, provided one expects recompense [for SABR].” Ibn Majah and Ahmad from Mu`adh.

Rain

Question:

Salaam

When it rains they say blessings come does that also mean when it floods as well or is that Allah’s anger so if it is ferocious weather it’s Allah’s anger.

Wassalam
Allah bless you.

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,
Floods are a sign of divine tests and/or anger for the believers and divine anger for the unbelievers. This is why the dua for rain entails asking for “suqya rahma“, rain of mercy, as opposed to what the Qur’an calls “matar al-saw‘” or rain of harm.

Using the Arabic term ‘Ishq to describe love for the Prophet (s)

Question:Using the Arabic term ‘Ishq to describe love for the Prophet
Is it permissible to use the Arabic term ‘Ishq to describe our love for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? Some people say the word ‘Ishq has unbecoming connotations that do not befit the lofty status of the beloved Prophet. What is the right opinion?

Answer:

Loving the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is an innate feeling that exists in the heart of every Muslim. It is the condition for a believer’s complete sound faith. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “None of you truly believes until I am dearer to him than his father, his child and all mankind.” [Bukhari and Muslim]

The word love (mahabbah) means a natural inclination towards someone or something. In Arabic, the word (‘Ishq) means intense love for someone or something. The term (‘Ishq) has different shades of meanings. It refers to the strong love and bond between a man and a woman and it denotes great love and attachment in general. In case of the Prophet, (‘Ishq) means intense love and attachment to him. This degree of great love is high above any materialistic worldly desires. It is a pure love for the beloved Prophet that reaches the utmost degrees of sublimity.

In the above-mentioned hadith, love is of three types. The first degree is gratitude and respect like love for one’s parents; the second is mercy and protection like love for one’s children and the third is kindness like love for all mankind. Our love for the Prophet (pbuh) excels and stands high above all these degrees of love. This is called (‘Ishq) in Arabic. Our master, Prophet, and Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the crown of creation and the gem of our hearts and souls.

God the Almighty knows best.

Is the deferred bridal dowry included in the estate of the deceased?

Question:

My husband passed away. He is survived by me, a daughter, mother and full siblings. I am owed a deferred dowry in the amount of 5000 LE. What is the share of each heir and what is the legal ruling for the deferred dowry?

Answer:

The deferred dowry is a debt owed to the wife which must be fulfilled before the division of the estate and anything beyond this is considered an inheritance to which the heirs of the deceased, including his wife, are entitled. The estate is to be divided as follows:
• The wife receives one-eighth of the estate as an obligatory share.
• The mother receives one-sixth of the estate as an obligatory share due to the presence of an inheriting descendant.
• The daughter receives one half of the estate as an obligatory share because she is the only descendant and does not have a brother through whom she becomes a co-universal heir.
• The siblings receive the rest of the estate, each male receiving twice the amount of each female, as universal heirs since there is no other heir who has an obligatory share or a closer agnate.
The estate is divided into twenty-four fractions: the wife receives three, the mother four,
the daughter twelve and the siblings five, each male receiving twice the amount of each female. The estate of the deceased is divided as mentioned above if:
• The case is as mentioned in the question.
• There are no other heirs apart from those mentioned in the question.
• The deceased does not have an inheriting descendant who is entitled to an obligatory bequest.

nurturing a snake

Question:

I am a fat man in a white suit, I meet this other skinny man in black suit. I keep a snake in a jar, looking for something so I killed people with it. The man says to me “…That snake is gonna turn on you some day” while I say in confusion “How could something this precious hurt me” and the snake looking at me with puppy eyes.

Answer:

That snake is the evil aspect of your nafs that you continue to nurture, and you know best what that is. Allah knows best. Take the guidance of a Murshid Kamil to save yourself from this disaster.
