Prayer Request: Prayer for my family

Request:

Salamou alaykoum wa rahmatulah wa barakatuh,

My mother is someone who lives in the past. She had become very bitter despite my attempts to share spiritual knowledge. She wasn’t educated and resents her parents for that and many times she throws her anger at everyone. I can handle (Mashallah) difficulties for I was blessed with understanding. I would like to request a prayer to heal my mother’s heart and help her accept Allah’s (swt) will. She is not a bad person just very angry. Please pray for her.

Jazakallahu kairan

Response:

Walaikumas salam wa rahmatullah wa barakatuhu.

Insha Allah Mawlana Shaykh Hisham is praying for your mother. Let her recite 100x Ya Halim and 100x Ya Hafiz every day if she is able. If not you may recite on her behalf with the intention to calm the anger down and send the blessings of the recitation as a gift to the Holy Prophet, sallal lahu alaihis salam.

Tafseer of “Qaaba qawsayni aw adnaa” (53:9)

Question:

Asssalamualaikum warahamatullahi wabarakatuh.

Forgive my worse adab, oh Maulana Syaikh, but this concerns me most.. ,Could you please enlightened us concerning the tafseer/meaning of the ayah of Surah An Najm 53:9 “Qaaba qawsayni aw adnaa” ? Is it Jibril as. as according to the hadith of Aisyah ra. or is it Allah swt. ?

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,

According to Ibn Mas`ud and `A’isha it is Jibril. According to Ibn `Abbas, Abu Dharr, Anas, Abu Hurayra, and `Abd al-Rahman ibn `A’ish it is Allah Most High. The latter is the position of the majority of the Salaf, and Allah knows best.

Monetary gift for non Muslim friend due to death of family member

Question:

Assalamu alaykum Shaykh,

I have a query with regards to giving monetary donation/gift to a non Muslim friend of mine. His father recently passed away and other colleague are planning to give small monetary gift/donation for his loss of a family member. I would like to know if it is ok for me as a Muslim to also contribute towards this. Both he and his family are practicing Christians.

Wa `alaykum salam,

It is acceptable to give one’s non-Muslim friends, co-workers, neighbors etc. presents. It is a  way of our Prophet Muhammad (saws) to be good to Allah’s creatures for the sake of Creator’s pleasure.

Please could Mawlana Shaykh Hisham pray that Allah opens up for me something with this khatm and sends me a suitable proposal from a respectable man inshAllah.
Masalams.

Dream: Name and the email

Dream:

Respected Sir,
A few months ago I heard an unknown person’s name in my sleep right before Fajr, and today when I opened my inbox someone with the same name (completely the same) had emailed me. He sent a chain mail to all the students of a sheikh. I think it was sent at around the same time I heard that name, but I checked the email account just today. May be it was just Satan’s trick even though I have a few good/true dreams. I don’t know why I heard that name or why that strange coincidence happened. In any case, what am I supposed to do?

Interpretation:

Audhu billahi min ash-shaytan ir-rajim
Bismi-llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm

If this chain mail is fitna, it means Mawlana Shaykh warned you and protected you against it, otherwise ignore it until it will be clearer.

And Allah knows best.

Permissability of attending zikr remotely on phone

Question:

I lead zikr every Thursday and Saturday. My 85 year old aunt started attending over the phone since one month. (Her mother was an Aulia & Ahle bait), She does it all: listens to Sh Hisham’s sohbet; participates in Khatm-e-Khwajagan, dua and nasheed. Is remote attendance over the phone permissible?

She lives far from my home and cannot travel to zikr centers. She also enjoys my rendering of zikr…. She was bedridden and saw disturbing images. Yesterday, she called me and told me how she can walk without help and has improved greatly.

Answer:

Without question it is permissible. Mawlana Shaykh Hisham has gone to great lengths to make spiritual guidance accessible to the farthest ends of the earth through technology, which is its best use yet.

Sharing the outcome of your Istikhara

Question:

Assalam alaykum,

Is it permissible to share the outcome or the the istikhara dream with the person about whom the istikhara was done in the first place, especially if the istikhara was done without their knowledge?

I did an istikhara about a girl without her knowledge but eventually shared my istikhara with her and its outcome does that have any negative or ill effect ?

Eagerly awaiting your response.

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,

What was your intention in sharing that istikhara with her? Was it for the sake of Allah, as originally stated in the literal phrasing of istikhara, or was it for the sake of convincing someone to accept something that matters to you?

Istikhara is an affirmation of your trust in Allah to the intention of acting on that trust on the basis of what He answers you. It is an act of worship to enlighten your heart and benefit your religion. By sharing that consultation with a third party you have in effect shifted that trust to them instead of Allah, and you have changed your intention to an ulterior motive in order to hasten the result that you desire.

It is possible that there is nothing to it, and it is also possible that sharing that confidence was not for the sake of Allah but rather shows poor adab with du`a and a recentering of istikhara into your own hands, which in effect cancels your original istikhara.

Dream: My dads children out of wedlock

Dream:

ASA
I was sitting on a couch with my dad. And I know about his children out of wedlock, but he didn’t told me personally. But that day I couldn’t resist it to confront him about it. At that moment I felt angry and emotional. I speak to him and he wasn’t even feeling sorry for what has happened. It look liked that cheating was normal. I said to him, that your judgement lays in Allah’s Hands, and that my anger doesn’t help me. He told that the children out of wedlock are very sweet and loyal to him. I felt like I was nothing from my father and was envious that my father doesn’t love my that much. He said that I should accept what happens, and accept those children as my family. But I still refuse so long my father isn’t telling everyone that he has more kids.

Interpretation:

Audhu billahi min ash-shaytan ir-rajim
Bismi-llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm

Wa `alaykumu s-salāmu wa rahmatu l-lāhi wa barakātuh

You have to keep respect for your father and forgive him even though it will be difficult for you. Your father might have repent from what he has done, this is between him and Allah(swt).

Try to be patient and insh Allah situation will improve.

And Allah knows best.
