Wa `alaykum salam,
They have lived in haram all this time, let them make it halal, and be forgiven and perhaps:
فَأُوْلَئِكَ يُبَدِّلُ اللَّهُ سَيِّئَاتِهِمْ حَسَنَاتٍ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا
they become of those “… for Allah will change the evil of such persons into good, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful,” (Surat al-Furan, 25:70)
