Of course it will not work in that way, because it’s his duty to support you, not the other way around! Pray for him to change, by reciting Ya Muqallib al-quloobi wal-absaar qallib qalbahu ila deenik 10x daily and then reciting 10x Salawat (Darood shareef) and present them as gift to Prophet (s).
