Request:
Asalamoalaikum,
Can you please make dua for my mother. She has been suffering for the past twenty years with mental illness and depression, thus spending most of her life in and out of hospitals. I myself and my two elder brothers were taken into foster care in our early age and believe this may have contributed to her health. I am the only son living with her at the moment trying my best to look after her. But find it really difficult leaving her alone when I’m at work as she tends to worry too much.
I’m a mureed of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim and would earnestly request a dua and also some advice.
Jazakallah.
Response:
wa ‘alaykum salam,
Insha-Allah Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani is praying for you and your mother. May Allah grant you patience and the love to continue to take such good care of your mother, on your own. Sayyidina Uwais al-Qarani, though he never met the Prophet (s) physically, was granted to be with him spiritually at every moment of his life, and this was due to his service to his mother.
In a sahih hadith related by Muslim, it is recorded that Sayyidina `Umar, (r) said, “I heard the Messenger of Allah (s) say, “Uwais ibn `Amir will come with a number of the people of the tribe of Murad from the region of Qarn as if he had a sickness on his skin. He had a mother to whom he was most perfectly devoted, and if he asked anything of Allah it would be granted to him. If you meet him, ask him to ask forgiveness for you.”
