Salam shaykh, I want dua from u as my sister is married and has now come back home because her husband keeps harassing her. He has beaten her and done things which a man should never do to a women (force). He has swore at my father and has made my sisters life miserable. She has been married to him 2 years or so and he has changed ever since he came from [private] to England with his visa. Now both families have broke and it has gone down to us being threatened and hating each other. My brother in law is not even thinking in his head what hes doing, what could the consequences be ? I feel he only came to live in this country and just used us to get here. What should be done ?

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham is praying for you and your sister. Your sister can use the law of the land to protect herself from domestic violence or even obtain a divorce and she can return her mahr to him if she wishes, as he appears to be running after this world without regard as you said, unless he makes amends and shows the will to act uprightly and fulfill his duties as a Muslim husband.
