Question:
Asalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullah. May Allah SWT protect and preserve you for the Ummah!
Short question: as well as translating Tafsir alBaydawi into English, will you be releasing a critical edition in Arabic only?
Answer:
Waalaykumussalam warahmatullah wabarakatuh.
That would take up much more time and effort that would unnecessarily further delay the publication of the translation which is already an all-consuming task. So there is no intention to add the Arabic text as I had done for the first Hizb.
Furthermore the first complete critical Arabic edition is planned to come out imminently, as produced by a moderate-leaning Wahhabi scholar in Riyadh, on the basis of early manuscripts. See attachment. He has already posted 200 or more classes on it on Youtube. The Baydawi text of this latter forthcoming edition should be wholly reliable, but its footnotes, prefatory and all extra material must be approached, as with all of the many Arabic editions of that school, with the caution commanded to us in the advice of the Holy Prophet, upon him blessings and peace, to “Take what is pure and leave what is turbid.”
