Question:
How do the ‘ulama of Ahl al-Sunna view Ahmad Ghazali, the brother of Imam Abu Hamid Ghazali? He seems to have held some controversial views such as Iblis being a true lover of Allah? It is also said that he was an exponent of ‘nazar bazi‘ or ‘nazar ila’l-murd‘, i.e., the practice of choosing a beautiful young youth to contemplate in Reason and inspiration in Islam, page 200.

He was among the ulema and I have not seen any basis for the claims mentioned.
