Bad desires vs. dressed with desires

Question:

As-salaamu Alaikum,

I understand the bad desires are our enemy, but how about the desires we were dressed with? I heard from someone that the desires are dressed for heavens but in this dunya they’re bad desires because we cannot fulfill heavenly desires in dunya. e.g. eating pleasure, entertainment pleasure and others.

Can you please elaborate on what types of desires are dressed for heavens and dunya?

JazhakaAllahu khair

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,
Heavenly desires is defined by the Hadith, “None of you believes until what he loves conforms to what I have brought” (See Nawawi’s 40 Hadiths) and what Allah Most High loves for us, as in the saying of Abu Yazid (Allah bless his secret), “I want not to want,” i.e. I want not to want other than what Allah wants.
