Question:
Bismillahi Rahmani Rahim
Assalamu Alaikum respected Shaykh Hisham (QS),
When our beloved Mawlana Shaykh Nazim may Allah sanctify his secret, give a person instruction and ijaza to do a certain task and the person informs the local Shaykh about it out of respect? Nust a person now wait for the local Shaykh to approve of it and in the process not obeying Mawlana Shaykh Nazim? May Allah sanctify his secret and give him long life, amin.
Answer:
wa `alaykum salam,
It depends on what this person informed Mawlana Shaykh. Many murids assume that Mawlana is using miraculous powers and knows all about the murid’s personal situation and relations with everyone. But as Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani has explained, awliyaullah don’t like to use their heavenly powers except as authorized by Sayyidina Muhammad (s). That means Mawlana will go with whatever the murid tells him on face and not intervene, even if that murid is hiding something. For example a murid may come and request authorization to lead dhikr in a certain area, neglecting to mention there is already an authorized representative doing so. Then Mawlana may give him ijaza and that murid will come and conflict with the authorized representative, using Mawlana’s ijaza to justify his actions.
So evaluate for yourself if that is your situation or you were straightforward with Mawlana and then follow your heart.
