I feel such shame asking this, may Allah forgive me, but I feel that it may be relevant to many young people. Given the sexualized society that we are living in, what can individuals do to keep their hearts and minds from being influenced and overcome by unlawful carnal/ sexual desires ?

Shaykh Hisham recommends for whoever is not married to marry, as he said, “In this time marriage is all of faith.”
I advise myself and anyone who has interest, to initiate the process of self-observation or self-accounting (muhasaba), as Shaykh Hisham teaches: take a notebook and write down all your good traits and all your evil traits, every night. Then one by one ask Allah to transform the evil ones into good ones.
