How to apologize to a Wali

Question:

Salam my dear Mashaykh. May Allah Ar-Rahman bless you and everyone associated with you.

I believe I’ve offended a Waliullah. I’ve dreamt that I was kissing his feet and apologizing. Yet I still feel like I need to apologize. He is a Khalif of Mawlana Shaykh. I haven’t been able to reach him on the phone like I’d like to. Please tell me how I can apologize in a way that I really, REALLY apologize to Him with everything I have. Is there a dua I can pray?

JazakAllah Khair. Salam.

Answer:
wa `alaykum salam,

Insha-Allah that dream signifies forgiveness. Yet if you still feel  unforgiven, recite:

وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ إِذ ظَّلَمُواْ أَنفُسَهُمْ جَآؤُوكَ فَاسْتَغْفَرُواْ اللّهَ وَاسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُمُ الرَّسُولُ لَوَجَدُواْ اللّهَ تَوَّابًا رَّحِيمًا

wa law annahum idhzh alamu anfusahum jauka f ‘astaghfarullaha w ‘astaghfara lahumu ‘r-rasulu la-wajadoo ‘Llaha tawwaban raheema.

Then ask forgiveness of that wali through the mediation of the Holy Prophet (s) and continue until you feel that tawbah has been accepted.
