Question:
Since I became religious, I have become very humble. I keep my head down and gaze down, don’t act like am better than anyone, talk less, don’t pride in my deeds and generally don’t have pride in me any more.
The problem is that my Big Brother who is arrogant with his muscles always tells me to put my head up or people will think your weak, and stuff like that. Now my family is with my big brother. Both of my parents are now very angry with me because of this. I never used to be humble before, Mashallah Allah has given me a lot but before I was religious I was arrogant with my looks, muscles etc. Now I don’t even have a slight of arrogance in me. I want to be humble but it is causing my family to hate me and family problems? What shall I do?
Answer:
Consider what Awliya said, that until the murid loses sight of his own humbleness he is still more arrogant than Fir’awn and Nimrod. So the good guys in your story might be your brother and parents, and Allah is testing you through them.
