Question:
I’m a 2_ year old girl. I feel limited /restrained. I remember when I was little, I was clueless, the days where long and filled with life and joy. For the past couple of years I’ve thought to myself: I wish I was born in a earlier century because of everything in today’s society. “Did my ancestors feel more free, were they happier than I am now?”When I was little I could fantasize about what I would like to become when I grew up, starting my own family. I’m studying agriculture / plant biology in uni, but after reading about the coming of Imam Mahdi, and a big war etc, I feel like why am I studying, why working, why losing weight? Reading about the world ending in 1500 etc , makes me depressed.
What should I be doing then? Should I study? How should I be thinking for it to not make me sad ?
Answer:
Be thankful of who you are today. Memories of childhood are always beautiful and joyful when we get older and we find that age and time bring problems that make us depressed and sad. There is nothing we can undo despite regret, except to learn and pray from it. Start doing and focus on what you are good with – plants. Explore the beauty of nature, begin with thanks to the Creator (Allah SWT). Strengthen and open your heart to be closer to the Creator of nature. In sha Allah you will find happiness and joy!
