Question:
As salamualaykum most respected shuyukh.
I have been trying to unify my (weak) beliefs in Islam and teachings of Tariqa with knowledge from Tao, Zen and especially Nisargadatta’s powerful ‘non-duality’ wisdom. I started a monthly reading / study / meditation day with some people from Beshara School and we read Maulana Sheikh Nazim and Ibn al Arabi as well as and dip into other wisdoms to find unity. This group is also attracting more sincere seekers, Muslim and non-Muslim.
I complete my basic Naqshbandi obligations (salah, awrad etc) but have intense thirst for unification of all bodies of knowledge. This is why I started the study group and I also practice some other meditation techniques which provide me with a very deep bliss. Sometimes I feel unsure about mixing all this and the responsibility for people feels too much. I would like permission, support and advice for these activities insha’allah.
Answer:
wa `alaykum salam,
Shaykh Hisham says you have permission to do as you are inspired.
I recommend you engage in intense study of Sufi Meditation under as-Sayyid Nurjan Mirahmadi.
