Question:
Assalaamu Alaykum
Many murids face great difficulty, this must be the shuyukh testing them, also many report amazing spiritual dreams etc and kashf. I have taken bayah online 5 months ago, I am a student, I do awrad and regular prayers and through the grace of Al Subhan I abstain from haram things with great ease, but I do not have such spiritual experiences, I simply feel very passive all of the time, like how someone should feel if they exist on a diet of water and rice. So I do not face such huge afflictions, fighting carnal passions, nor do I receive spiritual dreams/ kashf, i obey the shariat where I can and study books, watch shaykh regularly and do not sin, how can I know if i am making progress, what do these symptoms indicate? Is it a low spiritual state, or am i simply dehydrated?
ma assalaam
Answer:
wa `alaykum salam,
Alhamdulillah the fact that you are consistent in ta`at, obedience, is the greatest sign of progress, as Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim al-Haqqani said, and conveyed to us by Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani “ajjal al-karamat dawaam at-tawfeeq” – “the most brilliant of miracles is steadfastness on the true way.”
As Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani teaches, miracles, dreams, visions and unveilings (kashf), are given by the Shaykh in the Naqshband tariqah as “candies” for new murids on the Path to keep them enchanted and interested and focused and to prevent Shaytan from undermining their relatively new faith.
