Preacher claims Allah uses foul language

Question:

As-salamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullah,

An infamous Pakistani preacer based in the UK, who is often on TV and is known for labeling his opponents as “dogs”, “pimps” and “bastards”, created controversy some time ago when he defended himself by claiming that he only uses such language for those who deserve it and that God Himself uses such language. He mentioned Walid ibn Mughira and said that he is called a “harami” (i.e. illegitimate in birth) in the Qur’an. He was lambasted by his opponents for this, who likened his case to that of those who attribute the ability of lying to God Most High, saying that he had attributed imperfection to God. Is this a proper comparison?

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,

You described someone as infamous, foul-mouthed, judgmental, and prone to comparing Himself to Allah. It is enough harm to even hear of such elements being active in the Umma yet they broadcast their viral harm and others discuss it and rehash it? Inna lillah wa inna ilayhi raji’un.
