Inter racial marriage

Question:

Salam alaykum
Eid mubarak
, I have a question in regards to the Islamic view of different race marriage. I myself am Turkish and want to be-wed a Lebanese descendant. Alhamdulillah he is very pious and I too am working on myself, we want to do the things the proper way, for him to come and ask for my hand but I knew it would be an issue so I asked my brother if it would be okay, he called me horrific names and said that’s the worst thing I can do. I don’t see what the big issue is. He has basically forbade it, and threatens to deny me as his sister. A guideline/proof will be greatly appreciated. Thank you and may Allah strengthen our Eman.

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

It is pure racism on his part. Our holy Prophet (s) taught “there is no difference between an Arab and a non-Arab except by taqwa, righteousness.” Our guide and master, Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani is Lebanese and is married to a Turkish lady, Hajjah Naziha Hanim, the daughter of Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim al-Haqqani, which should be sufficient example for all.

If he is proud of being Arab, let him know that all Arabs descend from an African slave, Sayyida Hajar (as), wife of Sayyidina Ibrahim (as).
