Question:
Assalamalaykum,
I live in Singapore and the man that I wish to marry is from a different Tariqa (Qadriyya-Chistiyya). He is strong in his faith for Islam. However he wears a jubbah everywhere he goes because it is a ruling of his tariqah to do so. He spends time with his Shaykh every night and whenever he meets me he wears a jubbah. I feel a little awkward as we are living in a metropolis with many people from different religious backgrounds, so I fear that in future I do not want to be seen in public with him (when he becomes my husband inshaAllah). I really pray that he is the one for me because I am certain that he can guide me towards Success inshaAllah.
What do I do? Do I accept him?, or do you have any advise for him? Thank you for your time, JazakAllah Khayr.
Answer:
wa `alaykum salam,
If you are not comfortable with his devotion and spirituality before marriage, you may never be. Perhaps you need to find someone with whom you fit more comfortably.
