Question:
Assalamualaikum Maulana Shaykh and group…
I have doubt about practicing madzhab. I didnt study Islam in detail. Only some basics in school and thru lecture. In my country and state, we practice Shafiee school. In some way I tend to follow Maulana of Hanafi school. Its become like mixing of those. The obvious is the way reciting doa Qunut, 4rakaat sunnah prayer, sunnah after witir and shaking hand with different gender. Maybe others…
Is it ok to follow Maulana way although it is different from Shafiee school? As we are Maulana murid…
How we can practice different madzhab or we must only stay with one madzhab? One ustaz is strict in holding only to one madzhab and another said we can practice as long as there is a dalil supported by any of the four madzhab.
Thank you.
Answer:
wa `alaykum salam,
There is no need to switch to another madhab. Your following Mawlana Shaykh Nazim is not conditional on following his madhab (Hanafi). What matters is to follow his way of life which is closest to the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (saws).
