Question:
Salam Alaykum Ya Sayyidi
Obviously the 2 most prominent, largest contemporary Muslim groups struggling for & laying claim to the title of sawad al azam (majority Muslim sect) seem to be the “Salafi” and Ahl al Tariqah.
But are there any reliable, independent statistics or empirical proofs showing Sufis and Tariqah followers to clearly be the largest majority?

The sawad al-a`zham is not computed only synchronically i.e. in our own slice of time but also diachronically i.e. across the centuries. This makes ‘Salafis’ a puddle in the ocean of Ahl at-Tariqah and is a patent empirical proof.
