Understanding “Unlettered Prophet”

Question:

As Salaamo alaykum wa rahmat Allahi wa barakatu

My question is in regards to our Master Sayyidina Mawlana Muhammad Sal Allahu alayhi wa salaam being the “Nabeeyil Ummiyi” the Unlettered Prophet

By being unlettered does this also mean that He (Sal Allahu alayhi wa ahlihi wa sahbihi wa salaam) could not read or right ANY language, not just Arabic?

I have also heard that The Prophet (Sal Allahu alayhi wa ahlihi wa sahbihi wa salaam) also knew all the languages eloquently. Not just Arabic since He (sal Allahu alayhi wa ahlihi wa sahbihi wa salaam) was a Universal Messenger sent to all human beings and jinn alike.

Can anyone site any hadith in reference to answer the questions above? Thank you so much for your help and efforts wa jazak Allahu khayrun

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,

See “Unletteredness“.

As for languages, the Prophet (upon him blessings and peace) sometimes used words from the dialects Yemen, Abyssinia, Persia and other areas of the world around Hijaz.
