Dream:
Assalamualaikum,
I performed istikhara 3 times on the proposal and saw various dreams. The first dream was of my aunt and cousin telling me that they approve of the guy and I should go forth with it. The second dream was the guy putting the ring on me. The fourth dream was of our parents talking together. I saw rabbits in the dream and read it was a good sign. My parents have not yet approved of the marriage although they know about it. They’re main concern is that he is not of the same culture, although I have grown up in the same culture as him even though I do not look like it. After making duaa, I felt a great amount of tawakkal Allah and felt that this was the right decision. I am not sure if these dreams are a sign or from the nafs. Jazakallah Khair
Interpretation:
wa `alaykum salam!
As always, a’udhu billah mina ‘sh-shaytani ‘r-rajeem, Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmani ‘r-Raheem. Wa as-salatu wa as-salamu `ala Sayyidina Muhammadin wa `ala alihi wa sahbihi wa sallam. And after asking support from my Shaykh – a`aala Allah ta`ala darajatihi da’ima – we may begin. Maulana Shaykh Hisham used to say, “One reality is worth thousands of dreams.” In other words, even though the signs are good, you will still have to do everything people ordinarily do in order to have a successful marriage. That means, first of all, that you should get your parents’ approval BEFORE you marry. Otherwise, you and your future husband will face many difficulties.
And Allah ta`ala knows best.
