Question:
Is the Hadith beginning with ‘I saw my Lord in a dream in the form of a young man who had hair down to his earlobes (wafrah).’ authentic. I read it being attributed to at-Tirmidhi and ad-Darimi. How should we understand this Hadith?
Answer:
The wording you cite is not in al-Tirmidhi nor in al-Darimi nor in any of the Nine Books. It was disclaimed (munkar) by Imam Ahmad. The authentic wordings are “I saw my Lord” and “I saw my Lord in the best form.”
