Hadith abouit rawafidh

Question:

Assalam u alayekum to all specially Syyedi Sheikh Hisham and Hajj Gibril!
I have read this hadith the mafhuum (meaning) of which is:
“And very soon will come a nation. There will be a bad title of them. They will be called rafzi. They’ll curse aslaf e saliheen and they will not come in jummah prayer and jamaat.n= Neither should you sit with them nor eat with them. Neither drink water with them nor marry with them. If they die, don’t attend their funeral. Neither do offer prayer with them.”
May Allah forgive me for any error in narrating this hadithAamin
The question is:
Does such a hadith exist because I can’t find its reference. I have heard this from more than twice or thrice but no one told the reference. If this hadith exists, who are the raafzi mentioned in this hadith?
Shukran kasiran.

Answer:

`Alaykum as-Salam,

There is no such hadith but the second part of the statement (from “neither should you sit with them” until the end) is a statement of Imam al-Bukhari in his book Khalq Af`al al-`Ibad.

Rafidis are Shi`is who insult our liegelords Abu Bakr and `Umar, Allah be well-pleased with both of them as well as the rest of the blessed Companions, on the pretext of affirming love for our liegelord `Ali (Allah be well-pleased with him). The Holy Prophet (upon him blessings and peace) never explicitly mentioned them. However, our liegelord `Ali said: “The Messenger of Allah (upon him blessings and peace) told me: ‘There is in you a similarity to `Isa (upon him peace): the Jews hated him to the point that they defamed his mother, and the Christians loved him to the point that they gave him the rank which is not his.'” Then `Ali said: “Two types of people shall perish concerning me: a hater who forges lies about me, and a lover who over-praises me.” (Musnad Ahmad, Mustadrak al-Hakim)

As for later Muslims among the Tabi`in and the succeeding early generations then yes, they did make strong statements against the Rafidis, among them the four Imams and others.
