Among the Tabi`in that thought it may indeed have been the case are `Ata’ and `Amr b. Dinar according to Dhahabi; however, this particular report is inauthentic as its chain contains Muslim b. Khalid al-Zanji whose narrations are unrecognized/disclaimed (munkar al-hadith) and the top narrator is Yasar Abu Najih al-Makki (d. 109) who is a junior Tabi`i, so there is an untold number of missing links between him and the event.
