Sometimes we come across a dog who may sniff but the saliva doesn’t touch our clothing or are visiting someone who keeps dogs and he might come near by and sniff or is not present but lives there: Do we wash our clothing when we go home? What is the correct adab on keeping ourselves clean and our clothing when it comes to dogs and places where dogs live. What should we say to friends who keep dogs and if they let them come near.

Wa`alaykumussalam,
As long as the saliva does not come into contact with the skin or clothing, that’s fine. If it does, then you need to wash 7 times with clean water, including once mixed with earth (soil).
