Haraam Earnings

Question:

I am a revert to Islam entirely dependent on the earnings of his parents. My father contributes half of the money to my studies and to costs of living and food. However, he earns his living from haraam and I am eating from it. What can I do?

Answer:

The money can be haram because of the way in which it was earned. It is haram for the one who acquired it in a haram way. As for you getting part of such money in a permissible way is permissible to you. No blame on you for taking from your parents. By using their haram money you may purify it provided you use it in a good halal way.
