Question:
As salaam alaiakum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatahu. My Question is a married man who has a son and is mureed of Naqsbandi silsilah asked me to marry him as he believes in polygamy. While chatting with him on skype he asked me to come on webcam so he and his wife can see me. Now my question is, is polygamy allowed in this day and age and are women allowed to come on webcam while chatting with an Islamic brother? I would appreciate your answer. JazakALLAH Khayr
Answer:
wa `alaykum salam,
All we can say is that there are places and times when compelling reasons for polygamy exist. Islam is a universal religion. As such, it is suitable for all places and times and cannot ignore compelling reasons for polygamy. For instance, in the U.S. there are at least eight million more women than men. The safest way for faith of a married man is to avoid chatting with an unknown woman.
