Question:
Assalamualaikum
I’ve been in love with a boy for the past two months. We are a religious couple. At times, I admit we’ve gone off the limit like talking over the phone for hours at night. Asthaughfirullah. Parents got to know about this & regarded that I and him started off this in a haraam way & made us stop talking to each other. But we still do msg each other. I am afraid if msgn is haraam too. But, we’ve repented for the sin we committed. We are being patient until our parents agree to this & we won’t talk over the fone or meet unless by a halaal mean. We only msg to keep both updated. Is this haraam? We do not even exress our love to each other but in our hearts both of us do know how much we love each other. Please clarify this for me.
Answer:
wa `alaykum salam,
Islam does not allow kissing, or holding hands, or going out to the movies, parties, or living-in and other practices non-Muslims do. You can meet, see, and talk to each other, as long as you are not in seclusion and alone in a closed room etc. Any sort of touching is haram.
