Remedy needed for weak eyes Insha’Allah

Question:

Audhu billahi mina shaytan ir Rajeem Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim,

Alhamdulillahi Rabbil alamiin wa salatu wa salaamu ala ashrafil anbiya’i wal mursalin Sayidina Muhammad wa ‘ala ahlihi wa sahbihi ajma’iin

Asalaamwale kum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

Also you may remember us saying about my eyes being weak. I use my right eye mainly now as i was unable to correct my vision in my left eye when i was a child. Shaykh Abdul-Hamid said for me to take garlic for 40 days and to look at the night sky. I took it for more than 40 days to the point that i began to feel unwell. When we were last in Cyprus a year and half ago and my wife had a dream whereby she saw Shaykh Hajji Mehmet come to us and he drew a white line like an upside arch against each of my eyes. As we able to ask him about the dream the next morning and he read a dua upon me holding the ironing railing outside our beloved Sultan’s home and said to wear kohl. I have done this as much as possible but there has been no change in my eyes. Does our honoured Mawlana Shaykh Hisham have any advice for my situation insha’Allah?

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakutuh,

It is from the teachings of our shuyukh that it is not good adab to go from one shaykh to another asking for a cure. Stick to one, follow the prescription and if it doesn’t work go back and seek further.  This kind of jumping might weaken your faith, because shaytan will come and make all kinds of whispers.

Keep in mind such prescriptions are not a sure cure, nor a “magic” cure. They are like any medicine, or more apt, like any du`a, which may be answered in this life, or if not, you may be rewarded in the afterlife for seeking Allah’s Help. And as our shuyukh teach, strength of belief in the healer is the first condition for a cure to be effective.

Be sure to consult your personal physician on this issue.

W ‘Allahu `alam,
