1. I had some questions regarding Hujjat-Islam Imam Ghazali. You wrote on this site that he took bayah with a n=Naqshbandi Shaykh, Farmidi. jazakullah I did not know this. So does this mean that he was affiliated with a tariqa or was this another type of bayah, a bayah of blessing for example.
2. What was the relationship like between Farmidi and Ghazali. Did Ghazali admire Farmidi or disagree with him mostly?
3. It seems that Imam Ghazali and Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani lived during the same time period. Did they ever meet physically or spiritually, and do we have any accounts of what this meeting was like?

Imam Ghazali died in 505 but Shaykh Abdul Qadir (Allah sanctify their souls) did not come out in public until the 520s. For the other issues regarding etiquette of Shaykh and murid in tasawwuf refer to Suhrawardi’s Kitab Adab Al-Muridin – “The Book of Duty of Disciples“.
