Practices in the community

Question:

I’m trying to understand some practices that the Naqshbandi are doing. First is wiping of the face after dua, there was no strong Hadith/evidence saying this was done during the Prophet’s time and also congregational dua after every salah. Could you explain?

Answer:

Wiping the face after duaa was practiced by Ibn `Umar and other Companions. Duaa in congregation is found in the Qur’an and the Sunna. These are indisputable Islamic practices from the Prophetic Sunna and the practice of the Companions that are well-established and mass-transmitted in the Umma.
