Soda Pop .001% Alcohol Content

Question:

Assalamu Alaykum Sayidi,

I pray that you and the family are in the best of health and imaan ameen.

My question is in regards to the recent articles in the papers about coca cola. I work as a sales rep for coca cola and during the start of my career I questioned our office and got a formal reply that no alcohol was in the soft drinks range which I deal with on a day to day basis.

Now there has been recent hype and articles in the paper suggesting that a Paris lab has found 0.001% of alcohol in the drinks. Coca cola state that they do not add alcohol into the ingredients and that traces can occur naturally….

I have been told that other soft drinks and juices contain this and I am being criticized by the locals for working for the company.

1) What is the ruling of consumption for these drinks in the Hanafi madhab if alcohol occurs naturally and as a result contains traces and any fatwas or prominent scholars who have commented on this before?

2) I have asked the company directly in 2008 and the reply was that the soft drinks contain no alcohol does this change above ruling (if the above ruling is against the consumption of such drinks)?Anything further you can add would be very helpful.

I’m being attacked even by the Sufis here who know me here even though I solely deal with the flavored soft drinks range for coca cola.

Finally coca cola says:
Coca‑Cola is recognized as a non-alcoholic beverage and we do not add alcohol as an ingredient.Trace levels of alcohol can occur naturally in many foods and beverages. Governments and religious organizations have recognized that such minute levels are considered acceptable in non-alcoholic foods and beverages.

JazakAllah Khair

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,

Point zero zero one is like zero. Orange juice probably contains the same or more. Qur’an and Sunna warn us very strongly that whoever keeps asking more questions or tries to be overly strict will be judged more severely. The critics you mentioned are an old story. Imam Ghazali mentions them at the beginning of the book of halal and haram in the Ihya and calls their stance “the scrupulosity of the victims of satanic whispering (wara’ al-muwaswasin).”

On a separate note respected US nutritionists have declared Coca-Cola, Pepsi and related sugared drinks poison, and the chief contributors to the rise of diabetes and obesity in the world. So we should not be filtering the mosquito only to let the camel pass.

Number 243

Question:

Assalamoalikum,

I have been seeing this number 243 for almost 3 to 4 years now. No matter whatever I do, it pops up in front of me. I tried asking it from a Christian cleric who was notably very famous for explaining numbers qualities and there reason for following a person. Now I’m a little confused here. Please help regarding what does this number 243 means? Is it okay for it to be hanging around me all the time? What connection do you possibly see of a man and a number?

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

This most likely refers to the Surat al-Baqara (the Heifer), verse 43:

{and be constant in prayer, and spend in charity, and bow down in prayer with all who thus bow down.}

Dream Interpretation: Kaabah

Dream:

Assalammualaikum Dear Shaykh,
I have couple of dreams I wonder if you could share your opinion in these:

1. I dreamnt I was sitting and crying to Allah. There was no light, simply darkness surrounds me. But all of a sudden, I heard people crying and they started to emerge behind me. They come in massive and all of them crying and also began to march behind me. We all chanted the Nasheed Talaa al badru alai na” (for a few times). As we all march, we saw Kaabah started to emerge in front of us. That’s when I woke up from this dream.

2. I saw a person performing prayer on prayer mat facing the Kaaba. I walked next to him. On my way back, he talked to me. I lifted my head and he was still standing on the prayer rug but his was facing me. He asked, “Do you know what’s significant today?” I have no clue. He looked at me, “You don’t know?” He sound surprise,”Today all our friends are there now.” I saw people came by air. One brought a square black piece. When reaches Kaabah, he places into Kaabah like it was jigsaw puzzle. Then on the right I saw another group of people led by a person wearing all white and glowing. That person also carries another square piece and placed it into Kaabah. Then only 1 piece that was missing. The person then turn to me again and asked me this question”What is it there in your hometown?”

Bismi-llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm:

Wa `alaykumu s-salāmu wa rahmatu l-lāhi wa barakātuh,
About seeing Ka`bah in the dream, Mawlana Shaykh Hisham said:

Seeing Ka`bah, the House of Allah (swt), in the dream means you are seeing and knowing the manifestation of Allah’s Light in your heart, as the Prophet (s) said, “The heart of a mu’min is the House of Allah.”

The first dream shows that through your love and sincerity you will reach this heavenly station described by Mawlana Shaykh Hisham and the other dream shows that you need a guide to be able to know yourself, as the one who knows him/herself, knows his Lord. And Allah knows best.

Reciting the Holy Quran in a dream indicates piety. Reciting those two Surah means that you have been guided to give more care to them. Try to recite and meditate on them to receive their heavenly treasures and to be dressed from their lights inshAllah. And Allah knows best.

Dream: Offering Asr prayer at Bait-al-Maqdis

Dream:

I, my mom and dad boarded in an aeroplane and we landed at a beautiful garden of a palace. A guide showed us the foot prints of Prophet PBUH preserved at this beautiful place. There was a spring nearby. We did ablution from its water and entered the empty Bait-ul-Maqdis. There we three offered asr prayer. we offered a real complete Salah with actual words and rakats. We did dua and came out again. While standing in the garden the giude showed us a green dome of a mosque situated in the same garden. Its green dome was visible through the greenry and date palm trees. He told us the name of mosque but I woke up and didn’t remember its name.

I saw the same dream twice in my life. Once when I was a child and now again when I’m young.

Bismi-llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm:

Wa `alaykumu s-salāmu wa rahmatu l-lāhi wa barakātuh,

It shows that you and your parents by following the footsteps of the holy Prophet (ṣall Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) through the guidance of Murshid al-Kamil, will be purified and granted a heavenly ascent (Mi’raj) to the blessed presence of Prophet (ṣall Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), represented in the dream by the green dome. And Allah knows best.

Dream: Seeing Sheikh Mehmud Effendi

Dream:

Salam aleykoum wa rahmatullah wa barakatouh. I hope I find all of you in good health.

I dreamt recently that Sheikh Mehmud Effendi was coming to me teaching me things about the seven skies and about the structure of Hell. After he was walking with people and I was having difficulties to catch up. What puzzles me is that after I was looking at a Haqqani website and I was thinking that what was written there was strange and I was then wondering who I should follow.

Please forgive me if I lack adab or if this dream is a mark of lack of adab towards our master Sheikh Nazim, that’s not my intention at all.

Interpretation:

Audhu billahi min ash-shaytan ir-rajim
Bismi-llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm:

Wa `alaykumu s-salāmu wa rahmatu l-lāhi wa barakātuh,
It is a true dream showing you that Mawlana Shaykh Nazim is dressing you from heavenly realities and from the Naqshbandi Tariqa’s knowledges and secrets through Shaykh Mehmet.

To know who to follow and how to comprehend tariqa, please read the previous post hereinshAllah. And Allah knows best.

I am in an unknown house with family members and there is a cat that scratches me and I manage to throw the cat out of the house. I had another dream that I see a white dog. It is trying to attack me and hurt me but it does not. Please tell me. I have been having a lot of problems in my marriage.

You can also recite this recitation for all problems that Mawlana Shaykh gave recently, and Allah knows best.
