Family blindness

Question:

Assalamu Alaikum

Respected team,

Below are the people from my family who has been suffering blindness. Is there any chance that these people can get their eye sight back?

Answer:

Waalaikumussalam warahmatullah,

There is a guarantee they will, if they enter Paradise, which is a guarantee from Allah which the Yemeni Companion al-`Irbad b. Sariya narrated from His Prophet per the Hadith Qudsi:

إذا سلَبتُ مِن عبدي كَريمَتيْه ، وهوَ بِهما ضَنينٌ ، لَم أرضَ لهُ ثوابًا دونَ الجنَّةِ إذا هوَ حمِدَني عليهِما .

“When I have taken away from My servant his precious eyes, which he would never want to give away, I have already decreed no less than Jannah as his reward, when he himself has given Me praise regardless of them.” (Sahih Ibn Hibban)

This is why, when the Prophet (s) was asked a similar request by a blind man, he recommended trust and steadfastness. See:

Resting Place of Sayyida Amina bint Wahab (as)

Question:

In al-Abwa there is a site on top of a mountain that’s commonly accepted and visited as the resting-place of Sayyida Amina bint Wahb عليها السلام. Has this particular location been mentioned by any of the Ulama or in any texts? Especially as some of narrations mention a graveyard.
Jazakallah Khayran for your time and guidance Shaykh.

Answer:

Yes it is her grave as mentioned in the hadith to that effect. It does not matter if there is a cemetery around it or it has disappeared.

As for her grave under a dome in Medina in the time of the Ottomans, it was a maqam erected by them out of piety for people to visit and supplicate there, not her historic grave.

non-Muslim parents and marriage

Question:

Assalaam Alaikum Sayyidi

Sayyidi, if I were to marry a girl who is a convert but her parents are non-Muslim, do I still need the walee of her non-muslim father? Thank you so much. Also Sayyidi, if I had a money debt to my mother and she died before I could pay back, what can I do then? Thank you Sayyidi.

Answer:

Waalaykumussalam,

No. There is Quranic stipulation and agreement of the Four Schools (per the Mawsu`a Fiqhiyya Kuwaytiyya) as well as consensus (per Ibn Qudama in the Mughni) that a non-Muslim cannot be a wali of nikah for a Muslim. So a non-Muslim cannot be a wali of nikah for his Muslim daughter, granddaughter, niece, sister, mother, grandmother or aunt, nor to any Muslim woman. Either find a Muslim wali among her agnates, as distant as they might be, or else the judge can be her wali. Witnesses also cannot be non-Muslim.

As for your second question, you can repay her with a Hajj and/or Umra on her behalf, or with a sadaqa on her behalf.

Does Paradise lay under the feet of the mother in all cases

Question:

Does paradise still lay under the feet of a mother that abandoned her children when they were young? Is there different realities where the relationship is strained or broken? Who carries the responsibility? Thank you

Answer:

Allah softens hearts and mends broken ties. He only asks for righteous intentions, and for us to follow the Prophet’s advice. He said, “Keep blood ties with those who broke their blood ties with you.” At least in your heart.
