Changing the Name

Question:

Assalaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatulahi Wa Barakatuhu,

I’d posted this request earlier also but didn’t get a response from your side. A cousin of mine has not been keeping up well for quite some time now. Every now and then something is wrong with her health and it is getting serious with every passing day. It appears that she is prone to the evil eye. Everybody in the family is worried and disturbed. Her parents have been consulting a saint and he has advised them that they change her name. Her name is Tayyaba and she turned 19 this January and is an Aquarius by Zodiac. I wish that our beloved Shaykh give her a blessed name from the eternal oceans of their blessed knowledge and pray for her good health.

Thank You.

Answer:

Assalamu Alaikum,

Your cousin has a most beautiful name that refers to the city of the Prophet (pbuh) Madinah because of his presence there. Even in one of the nasheeds we sing we say that “Tayyaba is the cure for the sick”. So mashaa Allah, it is a good name and no need to change it. Name changing can be very traumatic for some people especially teenagers.

For the evil eye protection, ask your cousin to wear Mawlana’s tawiz and read the daily Wazifa. Before sleeping your cousin can take fresh wudu, pray 2 raka`ts of Sunnat al-wudu, then recite 3x Surat al-Ikhlas, 3x Surat al-Falaq, 3x Surat an-Nas, one time Surat al-Fatiha, then blow all over herself and sleep on wudu. When she leaves the house, leave on wudu, put small amount of money for Sadaqa in a box, recite A`udhu Billahi min ash-Shaytaani ‘r-rajeem Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmani ‘r-Raheem and then step out of the house. Giving sadaqah is very powerful way of protection and also cure for illness, as we have been taught by our Prophet (pbuh) and our Shuyukh.

She can also consult Mawlana’s Natural Medicine for her health and she can recite in the morning before Fajr prayer “Ya Hafiz” x100 times. If she cannot do all of these recitations, you or someone else in your family can help recite on her behalf with the intention of lifting the evil eye from her.

In your question you mention your cousin’s Zodiac sign. Please note, that Islamic scholars have discussed the validity of the signs of stars at length and the advice we have been given by our Shuyukh is not to believe in a direct influence of the stars in our lives. We must depend completely on our Creator and not put faith in unreliable predictions based on the stars.

Inshaa Allah by means of these powerful recitations gifted to us by our Holy Prophet (pbuh) and taught by our Shuyukh, your cousin will improve.

Mawlana will pray for her good health.
Ameen.
And Allah and His Prophet know best.
