Ecstasy in Hadrah/Zikr and Naqshbandi Taj

Question:

Assalamualikkum to all our Shuyukhs

Ecstasy in Hadhara/Zikr

How do you respond to a wahhabi claim, when they say that, when hearing the word “Allah” normally it should enforce fear in you, but the Sufis when they hear the word they start to dance/ whirl/ have movements in their bodies etc. How come?

The second question is, what’s the Significance or History behind the Naqshbandi Taj having the shape of the cone?

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

Wahabis look at everything through one eye. Recite to them:

الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ وَتَطْمَئِنُّ قُلُوبُهُم بِذِكْرِ اللّهِ أَلاَ بِذِكْرِ اللّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ الْقُلُوبُ”

“Those who believe, and whose hearts find satisfaction in the remembrance of Allah. for without doubt in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find satisfaction.” (ar-R`ad, 13:28)

The cone is the qalansuwa, which the Prophet (s) and his Companions wore with turban, whether pointed or rounded, and you may find similar caps among the relics of the Prophet and His Companions. Perhaps the purpose is to direct one’s head heavenward and direct heavenly energy into the head. Ask the Wahabis, what is the history and origin of the aqal-kufiyya?

w ‘Allahu `alam,

Taher Siddiqui
