How would Mawlana Shaykh Hisham observe Salat al-Khayr on the Night of mid-Shaban

Question:

How would Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani observe Salat al-Khayr on the Night of mid-Shaban?

Answer:

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani taught us that we have to trick our ego because the ego will never accept to do 100 rakaats, and “war is deception.”  In fact if we say, “We’re going to go home and do 100 rakaats” chances are we end up falling asleep.  So after we would finish Isha and sunnas in the masjid with Mawlana, he would say “let’s do two rakaats with the intention  so of doing 100 rakaats and ask Allah to accept  our 2 rakaats as 100 rakaats.”

Then we pray two rakaats. Usually Shaykh Soihibou would lead and as soon as he would finish the 2 rakaats, Mawlana would stands up and says “OK we finished two rakaats.  What do you say shall we continue and finish ten rakaats as for every good deed there are 10 the like thereof so if we do 10 rakaats it equals 100 rakaats in Allah’s eyes?”

After we finish the ten rakaats Mawlana says “Shall we continue to do 20 rakaats?” and he continues so forth until we’re done with all 100 rakaats, with Surat al-Fatiha and two Ikhlas in the first rakaat and Surat al-Fatiha and one Ikhlas in the second rakaat.

W ‘alhamdulillahi rabbil-`Alameen.
